Goodbye bed bugs: simple and natural solutions to eliminate them

All it takes is a restless night or a suspicious little red dot on the skin for the alarm to go off: bed bugs could be there. Just thinking about it makes you look back at it. However, there is no need to panic or avoid using chemicals. There are natural alternatives that are gentle on your home, but very insect-deterrent. Focus on two very beneficial ingredients that you should definitely pay attention to: diatomaceous earth and cloves.
Diatomaceous earth: a fine but particularly effective powder

Diatomaceous earth has been used for a long time in the garden or in care and is a real natural treasure. This powder is made from fossilized microscopic algae and dries out crawling insects, such as bed bugs, ants, or fleas, until they are neutralized.

How to use it against bed bugs?
Prepare your space: vacuum the mattress, box spring, baseboards, nooks and crannies.
Apply the powder: Sprinkle it lightly (but evenly) around the bed, on the legs of the frame, along the carpets, and in any crevices.

Leave on for a few days without moisturizing the treated areas.

Careful vacuuming, thumbtacks included… and repeat the process if necessary.
Little extra: This trick also works against cockroaches!

Carnation: a fragrance that insects avoid

Although it pleasantly perfumes dishes, cloves are also a natural repellent that is a very deterrent. Its strong smell bothers bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes and even some ants.

There are two ways to use it:

In bags: Put the whole nails in small cloth bags and place them in drawers around the bed, under pillows, or near pet beds.
As a homemade spray: dilute a few drops of clove essential oil in water (about 10 drops per 100 ml), shake and then spray on sensitive areas (bed frames, curtains, carpets, etc.). Repeat every 2 to 3 days.
And against other undesirables?

These two natural allies are not limited to bed bugs:

Ants and cockroaches:
diatomaceous earth on windowsills or near pipes.
Bags of cloves in the food cupboard = more premature onsets.
Fleas (safe for pets):
Sprinkle diatomaceous earth on carpets or beds, let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum it up.
Bags of cloves around the basket complete the natural protection.
Mosquitoes:
A spray with clove essential oil keeps mosquitoes away from living rooms and bedrooms, without synthetic fragrances.

In short, there is no need to use chemicals to get rid of unwanted insects.

With diatomaceous earth and cloves, you have two natural, economical and easy-to-use solutions to protect your home safely. A simple gesture for a healthier daily life.
