At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be anything unusual about this breakfast table. Pancakes are stacked on the plates, eggs and bacon are ready to eat, coffee has been poured, and syrup is sitting nearby. Everything you would expect from a comfortable morning breakfast appears to be right there.
But the challenge isn’t to find something hidden. It’s to figure out what’s missing. That’s what makes the puzzle surprisingly difficult. Your eyes naturally focus on the food, cups, plates, and utensils because they’re the most noticeable objects in the scene. Look carefully around the entire table before deciding. Check beside the plates, around the coffee, and near the condiments. Most people immediately start searching for a missing food item, but that’s exactly what can send you in the wrong direction. The answer is something extremely ordinary that you’d normally expect to have within reach while eating.
