Over the weekend, my friends and I hiked through the forest. It was wonderful — trees, clean air, and an amazing atmosphere. After getting home, I spotted this on my arm. I’m scared to remove it because I have no idea what it is. Can anyone tell me what this might be? Find the answer in the comment

At first, it felt like something alive was pushing through my skin. Thin, dark spikes had appeared after a hike, and the sight of them instantly sent my mind racing toward worst-case scenarios—parasites, insects, something I couldn’t explain.

The fear didn’t come from pain, but from uncertainty. Every glance made it worse, as imagination filled in details that weren’t really there.

Then I stepped into better light.

What I saw changed everything. The spikes weren’t moving. They were stiff, brittle, slightly glossy—nothing like anything alive. That small shift in perspective was enough to slow the panic.

I looked closer, more carefully this time. With a bit of research, the explanation became clear: tiny plant thorns, likely broken off from branches or grass I had brushed against during the hike.

The trail I had walked without much thought suddenly made more sense than the fear I had created. What felt mysterious and threatening was actually something simple I had carried with me.

Once I understood, the solution was straightforward. I removed the thorns gently with tweezers, cleaned the area, and kept it disinfected.

By the next day, the redness had already begun to fade. There was no infection, no hidden danger—just minor irritation.

Relief replaced fear, followed by a bit of embarrassment. The reaction had felt real, but it had grown from assumption, not reality.

In the end, nothing had been living under my skin. It was only a few sharp remnants of the outdoors—and a reminder of how quickly the mind can turn uncertainty into something far more frightening than the truth.
